The boards tested water resistant, meaning, if there is some water such as a shallow puddle, gutter run-off, or some sprinkler over-spray in your line, the board should be ok. However it is not recommended to ride when the ground is completely saturated.
You rely almost esclusively on friction when skating, even more so when skating on a powered board. Skating on wet surfaces offers greatly reduced friction, resulting in it being highly dangerous and could have adverse effects on you, your board, and those around you.
In addition, please note that damage to the electronics as a result of moisture exposure is not considered a manufacturer's defect, and consequently, not covered under warranty.
The Stoke is our short board. It is a street wheel only board that has a 10 mile range battery that is air travel safe! This board is portable with a kickball for swift maneuvering!
The Bamboo GTR and Carbon GTR share most of the same components with the exception of the deck material. The GTR Carbon has a battery encased in a carbon fiber deck giving a very slim profile. Therefore, they share a lot of the same specs - range, power, climbing ability, and top speed.
A lot of factors ultimately control speed. Weather conditions, surface conditions battery charge level, riding style, rider profile and significantly board setup. The GT series is available with a range of wheel options, as well as additional gearing options. A smaller wheel or bigger gear will offer more torque, whereas a bigger wheel or smaller gear will increase top speed. A rough guide for what to expect can be gauged in the following table, referencing gear options and some available wheel sizes.
Yes. The Stoke and GTR Series can climb hills with grades of up to 30%. Riding on hills can be very dangerous, what goes up must come down! So if you ride up an insanely steep hill and you intend to ride down this same hill, this is extremely dangerous and you must know how to control your speed without the use of the electric brakes if ever there was a loss of power or there was a situation where the brakes fail.
To slow down you push the trigger forward on the handheld remote. The brake is firm when applied at medium to fast speeds and is very safe. The braking is softer at slow speeds and may not bring you to a complete halt. It has been designed to be as safe as possible.
The Evolve GTR has FOUR speed modes. ECO, PRO, GTR, and CUST.
A lot of time has been spent refining each of these modes to perfectly match the mode selected and offer smooth consistent trigger control. While there is a lot involved, the most noticeable affect of each mode will be the torque. As a percentage, a rough guide to these is as follows:
ECO mode will offer around 40% of available power, with a limited top speed – perfect to learn on.
PRO mode offers around 60% of available power, with more speed but limited to be ideal for cruising and achieving maximum range.
GTR mode offers 100% of available power!
CUST mode allows you to adjust the power curve to your liking and can be accessed through the Evolve app
WARNING: GTR and CUST mode offer performance capabilities not suitable for beginners AND can allow the rider to get in situations that may increase risk in operation. Riders must understand the power this board can offer must be respected for safe use.
ECO mode has been designed specifically for this purpose, and all our advertised ranges and testing has been conducted in this mode. Averaging 12mph with gentle trigger control and not exceeding speed much is the key. Our tests were carried out in mostly flat conditions, with an 175 lb rider, and weight will affect this range somewhat with reference to this. Ensuring proper charging and board maintenance will also give the best opportunity for a long ride! If you are riding the All Terrain kit, make sure that your tires are between 45psi - 50psi for efficient, fast roll.
Approximately 1000 full recharges. Similar to other electronic devices, your battery won't give you the same performance forever. The range won't be as it once was. When it gets to the point where you are unsatisfied with your battery's performance you are welcome to purchase a replacement battery. This can be found on our website!
Although the boards were designed to be low maintenance, ensuring that your components are operating properly on a regular basis will ensure maximum range and help prevent premature component wear.
It is recommended to routinely check that your bolts and nuts are tight, bearings are clean and rolling freely, and your belt has proper tension. In addition, rotating the wheels regularly can prevent uneven wear.
We use the highest quality drive belts available on the market (Gates, made in UK), they are very quiet and durable. The belts should last a very long time and generally become better with age. If ever the belt does break due to wear and tear, replacing it takes a few minutes and they are available on our website.
